How To Build A Schedule That Works For Your Family And Your Career

Let’s talk about schedules—or, should I say, survival guides?

Balancing work and family life is like walking a tightrope, but I truly believe with the right schedule, anything is possible.

Here are some tips for creating a schedule that supports both your career and your family without making you feel like you’re running on a never-ending hamster wheel:

    1. Create Family Time Blocks: Block out specific times for family activities. This could be dinner, playtime, or even a weekend outing. When it's on the schedule, everyone knows it's time to be together—and you'll feel more present when you’re not worried about checking emails.

    2. Use a Planner You Trust: Whether it’s digital or paper, find a planner that works for you. And while we're on the topic (wink wink), The Flow Agenda is designed for busy moms who want to master their work, family and home life! The perfect solution for working moms, whether you're a CEO, a homeschool mama, or a mom with a side hustle, The Flow Agenda was made with you in mind.

    3. Set Realistic Expectations: Don’t pack your schedule too tight. Leave buffer time between tasks for those inevitable interruptions (a.k.a., the kids needing a snack, your boss calling or mama needing a moment to get centered).

    4. Delegate When Possible: You don’t have to do it all. Assign age-appropriate chores to the kids, hire help for specific tasks, or share responsibilities with your partner. Delegating frees up time for you to focus on your priorities.

    5. Review and Adjust: Life happens. Some days will be smoother than others. Take a look at your schedule each week and adjust it as needed. The Flow Agenda includes weekly, monthly and quarterly reviews to help you reflect and pivot until you find your unique life flow.

Remember, a schedule isn’t about rigidity. It’s about creating structure and rhythms that work for you and your family. When everyone’s on the same page, things run smoother—and it allows your family to enjoy life's little and big moments.
